Following the Lead of Tribal Communities
A vital element of this project is that the ideas for projects come from within Native communities and that the team supporting these communities be comprised of Native staff, interns, consultants and advisors. The Native professionals leading this project have wide-ranging experience in green transportation, utilities, renewable power, environmental policy, greenhouse gas accounting, and energy sovereignty.
The GTP Team
To ensure that this project is firmly rooted in, and respectful of, the preferences and culture of Native Nations, the WSU Energy Program has teamed with Donald Williams, senior energy consultant and owner of From the Light Consulting, and a member of the Umatilla Tribe.
“This is the first time tribes have had a seat at the table, an opportunity to advocate for what we need and want when it comes to clean energy,” Williams says.
